Go see Skyfall if you haven't.
The Hobbit is coming out this week. Should be good. Though I've read the book and not much happens, they did add a lot of stuff from expanded universe to the movie. But still, 3 movies? 3?

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Personally i'm glad they went for three movies. Jackson is not some hack who just does it for money. They should be good. And personally i would've loved 3 more movies of expanded interactions between Aragorn's group. Especially legolas and gimli. There was honestly not enough of that good stuff in lotr

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Too true. There wasn't enough of Aragorn and Co in the movies.
I know this is not my thread but watch Cloud Atlas, the 3 hours are totally worth it

Sleepwalk With Me
I know I'm recommending a lot of things related to stand up comedy, but Sleepwalk With Me, a movie based on the real life experiences of comedian Mike Birbiglia, is a must watch for fans of stand up. It's about his problems with sleep walking and struggling as a comedian and as a boyfriend.

Looper
While lower on the action scale for movies starring Bruce Willis, Looper makes for one very cool sci fi thriller. If you don't know, it's about assassins whose victims are sent to them from the mob of the future to be killed in the past, making the crimes in the future untraceable. I don't want to give away more because the movie does a great job of explaining the world itself. While less "actiony" there is still plenty of violence and HOLY SHIT moments.
Also by the director and starring Joseph Gordon Levitt is Brick, a neo Noir tale set in high school. If you like film noir, this movie does a great job of setting it in high school and playing with the genre.

Yeah i've seen Looper)) The idea was quite good and the film itself was okay, but, seriously, NONE of the characters were likeable! Except for Bruce, but he was positioned as the villain 0_o
Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
My favorite part of the movie was the cool world building more than characters.

Same here. Liked the idea and the world (even though it seemed a wee bit shallow and unrefined. But i can look past that.) but the characters were.. ugh,,
Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
They did have that brilliant scene where when discussing time travel, Bruce Willis was like, shut up about discussing the ins and outs of time travel, we have shit to do. Which was a nice way of explaining the unrefined nature.

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Lmao, well i guess that depends on your personal preferences XD IMO i liek to know every bloody detail to have a clear picture in my head, so i did not find it that brilliant (it was 100% in character however, but as i said i'm not fond of them either XD ). I think the picture that stood out to me the most is Bruce Willis with combed over emo hair XD I have not laughed that hard in over a decade XD
Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Sometimes sci fi can get bogged down in explaining shit, or it's not explained well, so I liked how this movie basically said, fuck that let's watch some things get shot.

The Sixth Sense would have a new twist.
His hair was dead the whole time.

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
So I watched The Hobbit and Life of Pi recently
The Hobbit was a reasonable start to the trilogy, didn't need to be a 3 hour film since it was just setting the scene and felt really dragged out at times. I was also forced to watch it in 3D, but for once it actually added to the film, some epic effects and vibrant scenery.
Life of Pi, to be brief I thought the film was brilliant, but it's not for everyone since it really depends on how far you want to delve into the concepts of faith, life and self-reflection covered by the film, on the surface it's just a tale of survival, dig deeper and it's an absolute beast.

Loved the hobbit XD IMO it felt short XD Woudla loved more dwarven antics and Gandalf being snippy XD
Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Some of the dwarfes do not look like dwarfs at all! They are far too...too...too...good looking?

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Well they ARE normal sized people shrunken down XD Besides they're hilarious, so who cares XD
Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
I know they are hilarious and it's not at all about the height of them, it's about their look
They are good to look at

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Gimly wasn't exactly an ugly duckling either XD He was the dwarf that went swimmin', with little hairy women

Re: This is where I tell you what movies to watch
Well, Gimli was just as I imagined dwarfs to be looking
But Thorin and some more are looking really good
