hhmm since you were bitching about CnC i guess i'll give some.
FOr starters i see that you use 2 diffrent styles of shading/light.
Both flat shading and nonflat shading/light(the white on the skin)
Choose 1.
Either fully cell shade it or not.
Same goes for the BG.

I also see some purple light on the bg.
dont just put it on the bg if you plan on using it like that.
Show it on you character as well.(more since there is alittle bit already)
This takes quite some practice to get right so if it doesnt work out/look good leave it out.

Hmmm the tip about shading is quite important for me, sicne i literally have NO IDEA how to shade, i was just going based on intuition. I guess what i ideally want is a non cel shaded look, but i'm nowhere NEAR being good enough to pull it off, so i still add flat shadows. If you have any good tutorials for shading in general i will largely appreciate it.

(btw the bg is actually a stock photo that i manually cell shaded, lmao, took me a while to make it NOT stick out like a sore thumb lulz)

I'm surprised that you don't see the purple light on the character as well The idea was that there are 2 lightsources - standard white in front to the right, and the purple neon sign off screen on the far right
. If you look you should see the purple tint or glow on his rleft arm, fists, hair and coat (especially shining off of the zipper and buckle) Do you think i should've gone with more purple? I was kinda afraid of accidentally turning him into a purple people eater xD

Thanks a lot! I'm working on another piece right now, even more complex, nearly done with laying the linework. So am looking forward to trying out your suggestions))

P.P.S. - If you go to DA and check out in full size you can see the eyes through the glasses, my favorite fuckign part of this piece xD

I start of with a dark base color and add light and more shade with a 10-30% brush.

Whaaaa? that's too bad, the eyes are fucking awesome. Brightness maybe? Doesn't matter.

Hmm... okay, i'll try that. Also what did you say about adding shape dynamics? You mean for when i'm drawing the lineart, to add a shape dynamic to my hard round brush?

looks pretty awesome to me xD, except that its kinda to dark, and the hair blends to the darkness of the background xD. (except when tried at 100 contrast which burns the eyes xD).

Well it is supposed to blend at the laft side, however the top of his head is still very distinct 0_o Hmm... it occurs to me that i might have a very bright monitor (the contrast is normal tho)

Fuuuuuuuuuck.... i just checked my drawing out from another computer - apparently the contrast on my laptop is very low a brightness is high. This looks fucking terrible... gotta re adjust the colors. No wonder sancps missed so many tthings.... fuuuuuck.
